The stamps will be sold on an ''on-demand'' basis only, with orders accepted between Dec. 20 and Jan. 31 at postal offices across the country and on the postal service's website, the company said. They are expected to be shipped in late March or afterward.
''It's quite an honor,'' said Azusa Iwashimizu, a defender on the Nadeshiko squad, at a related event. ''I want to keep the stamps for commemoration.''
Japan Post Holdings Co. said Monday it will sell special stamps commemorating ''Nadeshiko Japan'' winning the Women's World Cup this summer in Germany.
