Sharp Plans to Beef Up Education Business
Sharp had a press conference in its booth at the 3rd Educational IT Solutions Expo, a trade show for electronic educational tools, information technologies for education, etc, which runs from May 16 to 18, 2012, in Tokyo.

Sharp to sell talking robot vacuum cleaner in Japan
Sharp said Tuesday it will launch in early June in Japan a robot vacuum cleaner capable of recognizing and responding to simple voice commands and questions.
The Cocorobo robot vacuum cleaner, also equipped with a camera, recognizes more than 30 phrases including "Clean the room" and "How are you?" and reacts differently depending on such conditions as temperature and the amount of charged battery, Sharp said.

Sharp LCDs Installed in Boeing 787 Dreamliner Flight Decks
Sharp LCDs are being used in the flight deck of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, a state-of-the-art, all-new-commercial airplane.
This is the first LCD for aviation usage to incorporate Advanced Super View LCD, a display technology that Sharp developed for the AQUOS LCD TV. Boasting superior optical characteristics including high contrast, wide viewing angle, and excellent color reproduction, the Advanced Super View LCD gives the pilot and co-pilot, a clear view of vital flight information.

Sharp unveils largest LCD 3D TV for Japanese market
Sharp announced the "Aquos Quattron G" series of high-end LCD TVs featuring "Quattron" technology, which uses red, green, blue and yellow color filters.
Sharp announced six models whose sizes range from 80- (the largest LCD TV manufactured by a Japanese maker) to 40 inches. It will release 40-, 46-, 52- and 60-inch models June 10, 2012, and 70- and 80-inch models June 20, 2012, in Japan. There are no manufacturer's suggested retail prices, but the expected retail prices of the 80- and 40-inch models are 950,000 (approx US$11,662) and 160,000, respectively.

Sharp releases new 3D Aquos G Series
Sharp announced today its latest 3D Aquos G Series in Japan . This series contains six new models including a giant 80” model.
These new TVs come with UV2A Panel, LED Backlight, a 7,000,000:1 contrast ratio, 240Hz Panel and Sharp latest Audio Engine.
Sharp G Series also comes with DLNA support and Sharp Aquos Android remote control.

Sharp to Release 1/2.3-inch 20-Mpixel CCD
Sharp will release a 1/2.3-inch CCD image sensor with a total pixel count of 20.2 million (20.15 million for imaging) for compact digital cameras.
The sensor, "RJ23G3BA0LT," has the industry's highest pixel count of all the 1/2.3-inch CCD image sensors that use an interline transfer method and are designed for compact cameras, Sharp said. The size of its pixel cell is 1.20 x 1.20μm, which is about 20% smaller than that of the "RJ23E3BA0LT," the company's 1/2.3-inch CCD image sensor with a pixel count of 16 million.

Sharp Begins to Roll Out IGZO TFT-based LCD Panel Update
Sharp announced that it has started volume production of a high-resolution LCD panel using IGZO (In-Ga-Zn-O) TFTs, which are oxide semiconductors, as driver elements at Kameyama Plant No. 2.
Sharp started the volume production in March 2012 and plans to start full-scale volume production in April 2012. So, what the company claims is the world's first volume production of IGZO TFT-based high-resolution LCD panel will begin three months behind schedule (within 2011).
