Tenri University's Shohei Ono won his first men's 73-kilogram title on Saturday at the All-Japan weight class judo championships. Ono defeated Tenri's Takeshi Doi by ippon in the final, one of seven contested on the first day at Chiba Port Arena.
Keita Nagashima won his second consecutive 81-kg title, with a victory over Yuki Haruyama by judges' decision. Masaaki Fukuoka won the men's 66-kg class three years after he lifted the 60-kg championship. Shinji Kido won this year's 60-kg title.
It was a disappointing day, however, for new Japan men's coach Kosei Inoue.
