Keita Nagashima won his second consecutive 81-kg title, with a victory over Yuki Haruyama by judges' decision. Masaaki Fukuoka won the men's 66-kg class three years after he lifted the 60-kg championship. Shinji Kido won this year's 60-kg title.
It was a disappointing day, however, for new Japan men's coach Kosei Inoue.
Tenri University's Shohei Ono won his first men's 73-kilogram title on Saturday at the All-Japan weight class judo championships. Ono defeated Tenri's Takeshi Doi by ippon in the final, one of seven contested on the first day at Chiba Port Arena.
