Mahoro Ekimae Tada Benriken

Mahoro Ekimae Tada Benriken"Mahoro Ekimae Tada Benriken" (Tada's Do-It-All House) offers a ray of hope during this increasingly stressful modern age.

Set in the fictional city of Mahoro in suburban Tokyo, the story centers around two divorced men in their 30s who operate a sort of handyman's shop. They will do anything a customer asks, as long as they get paid.

The two meet when Keisuke Tada (Eita) loses a chihuahua he was dogsitting for a client. Desperate to find the canine, he hunts high and low and finally sees a man holding the dog in his arms at a bus stop.

It turns out to be an old classmate from his junior high school, named Haruhiko Gyoten (Ryuhei Matsuda), who happens to be down on his luck.

Gyoten begs Tada to let him stay for the night. Tada reluctantly agrees, only to find that Gyoten plans to stick around, along with the chihuahua.

Work is not easy, especially when they must deal with prostitutes, drug dealers and gangsters. But Tada and Gyoten try to keep their customers satisfied in their own offbeat ways. Behind their struggles lies the question, what is truly important in life when people are less and less involved with others?

Tada and Gyoten work together to help the people they meet cope with their bitter past and find hope.

This offbeat comedy ends optimistically, showing that happiness can regenerate itself and comes in many forms.

The two costars are A-list actors who have many feature films and TV dramas to their name.

Actor-turned-director Tatsushi Omori made his directorial debut with "Gerumaniumu no Yoru" (The Whispering of the Gods) in 2005, which has been screened around the world, including at the Locarno International Film Festival. His second feature, "A Crowd of Three," was showcased at the prestigious international film festivals in Berlin and Hong Kong.

The film is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by acclaimed writer Shion Miura. The novel has more than 500,000 copies in circulation.
